Writing sales letters and other web copy is a skill you will want to cultivate. This is something that you must do in order to sell your products and services online, and it is much better if you learn how to do it yourself instead of having to pay others to do it for you. In order to become a great copywriter, you must practice regularly, test the results of what you have written, and be willing to continue learning by studying the work of others on a daily basis. By doing this for my own business I now have sales letters that have earned me more than twenty-five thousand dollars and continue to sell for me online.
The way I was able to write my first sales letter was to write it out by hand sentence by sentence. I had an idea of what I wanted to say, and just started writing. This turned out to be the best thing I could have done, because I was much more aware of the process. I had also heard that web sales copy was a formula, with different parts, such as the story, the guarantee, the call to action, and so forth. By writing it all out I saw what I had already written and what I still needed to add.
The true test of whether your page is effective comes from testing the results. This means that you must use Google’s Analytics program to see what percentage of visitors are actually deciding to purchase. You can also see things like how long they stayed on your page, which gives you some idea of how much they read. If they only stay for ten to fifteen seconds, your headline probably needs some revision.
Learning from the great copywriters, both the ones from a hundred years ago as well as those currently writing copy, is crucial to your success. There are people like Claude Hopkins and Bruce Barton, whose works are invaluable to your perspective of how to persuade others to make a buying decision. I have also learned much from studying the work of Gary Halbert, who passed away just a few years ago. These men were masters at their craft, and much can be said about the impact they continue to have. Modern day copywriters I have learned from include Ray Edwards and Joe Vitale.
Continue to read, learn, think about, and practice so that you are able to sell your own products and services on the Internet. After you have done it a few times you will see that the process becomes much simpler.
