How to Fix PLR Flaws on the Fly for Excellent Results
Even though PLR (private label rights) content is inexpensive compared to ghostwritten content, it doesn’t make it any less frustrating when you buy a pack and something is flawed with it. Let’s discuss using PLR with flaws and fixing the flaws along the way.
The good news is, fixing bad PLR is no longer a time-consuming nightmare. It’s super easy to flag and fix anything that’s either blatantly wrong for all to see (and hear) or something that’s just not your style or preferences.
That’s really what PLR was meant to be – something editable. Now some PLR vendors have a typo or just didn’t do something to your expectations. But others really miss the mark in a sloppy manner.
I’m going to show you how to make any PLR pack work well for you, without a long investment of time on your part. This will work for both text packs and video bundles you might buy.
From this point on, you won’t even bat an eye if something feels “off” when you unzip the files and see what you’re working with. Let’s go over a simple step-by-step process you can adopt.
Step 1: Do a Quick Assessment to See What You Bought
Depending on how much is in the bundle, you want to randomly pick a few things to check out. If there is all one type of content, like short-form videos, pick a few to watch. If it’s all articles, open 2-3 but not all in a row in the file – jump around.
What’s your gut instinct as you look at it? Is it decent? Cringe-worthy? Jot down the immediate issues you see with it. This isn’t time for deep editing. Just for you to figure out what’s wrong.
Sometimes it’ll be a big issue with language. Many foreign PLR sellers don’t translate the content well into English, so it needs an overhaul. Or maybe it’s British English where the spelling or even vocabulary is off slightly from what we use in America, like color versus colour.
If it’s a video, you might hear the pronunciation differently if it’s not a native English speaker from America. During this skimming process, where things jump out as problematic for you, look to see what tone is being used in the content.
Is it void of any tone and just reads like an encyclopedia? Is it hyped up and motivational? Serious? Humorous? If it doesn’t match with what you want, make note of it.
If it’s a video, what are the graphics like? Some videos are very low quality or just the wrong shot to fit the message it’s delivering. Some have bad audio or background songs that feel out of place.
It might drag on (text or video) too long or gloss over something that needs to have more time spent on it. What you want to do in this quick evaluation is to simply separate the weak from the chaff and see what you can salvage and what you need to replace.
Don’t feel overwhelmed. Most savvy PLR buyers replace stuff anyway because it needs to be a fit for their audience. What you download might sound too much like a commercial and be lacking in that personalization that’s needed for consumers to act.
Make a list of what needs to be fixed. Then move on to the next step. Using PLR with flaws can be a challenge that improves your business.
Step 2: Fix Text-Based PLR First
Even if you’re working with video, such as short form videos, if the text that is on the screen or even being verbalized in the scene needs to be swapped, add that to your list here. This type of using PLR with flaws will make you stronger, I promise.
But let’s focus on the text-based PLR primarily, like articles for your blog, email autoresponders, eBooks, lead magnet reports and so on. You want to start by ensuring it’s not ESL (English Second Language) or awkward writing in any way. Then move on to the other potential problems.
You can do quick edits yourself, or you can quickly past sections into AI and prompt it to make the fixes. Do this for all paragraph-type content, but also for video captions and text overlaps and even hashtags that need to be corrected.
English Language Issue Prompt: “Attached is a sample of my writing style and tone. I want you to keep the overall content and messaging of the content pasted below (the PLR), but correct any language issues. It needs to sounds like it comes from a native English speaker from America – not an awkward read – and ensure that it sounds more natural and clear.”
Wrong Tense Prompt: “Rewrite the following content and put it in an active voice, so that it’s more engaging for my audience.”
Fix Run-On Sentences Prompt: “Redo this content so that long sentences are kept shorter and more powerful.”
Fix Bad Messaging Prompt: “Rework this content so that the messaging goes from [whatever it is currently] to [whatever you prefer it to be]. Use examples and language that fits my audience and niche.”
Bad Format Prompt: “Make corrective measures to the following content so that it’s formatted in a way that’s easy to skim, with an introduction, main points, and a conclusion. Right now it’s a big lump of information that’s not well organized.”
Ineffective Script Prompt: “Take the script that’s currently attached to a short-form video about [topic] that I’m pasting below and turn it into something [that you want: bolder, more empowering, etc.].” For this one, you can have it reworked for mood, a segmented audience, or length, and still benefit from using PLR with flaws and repairing them.
Bland Copy Prompt: “Take the following sales copy and revise the headlines, bulletpoint benefits, and call to action and make it more powerful so it converts better. Start with beginning headlines that pique curiosity in the visitor to read on. Avoid clickbait.”
Step 3: Fix Video PLR
Many PLR vendors these days sell huge files of short-form videos that can be used on TikTok and Reels. These can be effective content pieces when they’re created correctly, but some aren’t – and luckily, the fix is easy.
If the voiceover is bad, all you need to do is either use editing software to strip the audio or simply mute so the volume doesn’t show up for the audience on an app like TikTok and add new audio instead. This type of using PLR with flaws may be a bit more challenging.
If using editing software, you can replace it with a clean voice – yours or something you generate with AI audio voices. You can even clone your own voice so that AI can use it when creating future audio files for you.
Sometimes it might be the accent where it sounds like an ESL narration, and you want it to have a more American accent – or a change from male to female or vice versa. Even the tone can be specified when using AI if that’s what’s missing from the original piece.
A lot of times it’ll be the background music they chose that’s the problem. You can do the same thing and lower the volume or strip it out and then replace it with whatever sound you want to use – music, a clip of something else, etc.
There is royalty-free music you can use or even create your own music with AI music makers so it has the exact mood and tempo you want to convey. Some apps, like TikTok, have built-in sounds to choose from so you may want to select something trending.
There might be times when the visuals aren’t a good match. For example, you may have purchased a personal development short-form video pack and it shows people volunteering in the video clip, but your niche is online marketing.
Prompt into AI something like this: “I have a PLR short form video about how volunteering is a great way to feel better and help others and that it gives you a sense of purpose, etc. The video shows people volunteering – doing things like serving food, picking up trash, etc. I don’t want the video to go to waste, but I don’t like the messaging because it’s not relevant to my niche, which is online success. What could I script it with so that it’s relevant to my audience?”
AI will reply with:
To make your PLR volunteering video relevant to the online success niche, reshape the narrative so that each volunteering scene becomes a metaphor or lesson about qualities and habits that drive digital achievement. Use voiceover narration, overlays, and headlines that connect actions in the video (serving food, picking up trash) to values like leadership, proactive problem-solving, community building, or investing in personal and business growth.
Reframing Volunteering as Online Success Habits
- Serving food → “Great entrepreneurs serve value consistently. Your digital business grows when you feed your audience what they need most.”
- Picking up trash → “True leaders clean up messes. Online success comes from handling setbacks and improving what others overlook.”
- Working together → “Building an online business isn’t a solo journey. Collaboration multiplies progress and support.”
Sample Script Structure
Opening Hook:
“Want to know the unexpected habits that top online entrepreneurs have in common?”
Scene 1 – Serving Food: “Success starts by providing real value. Just like volunteers serve meals, successful online business owners deliver solutions their audience craves every day.”
Scene 2 – Picking Up Trash: “Not every day is glamorous. In business, as in volunteering, cleaning up problems—whether it’s negative feedback or technical glitches—proves your commitment to excellence.”
Scene 3 – Teamwork: “Growth accelerates when you work with others. Like successful volunteers, top entrepreneurs join masterminds, network, and celebrate mutual wins.”
Closing/CTA: “Adopt these proven habits from the world’s most giving people. Start serving, solve problems, and partner up—and watch your online success multiply.”
Overlay Hook Ideas
- “Serve to Succeed”
- “Clear Obstacles, Build Growth”
- “Team Up for Triumph”
- “Solutions, Not Excuses”
- “Invest in Others, Win Online”
Adapting the volunteering visuals with new messaging makes the video a metaphorical guide for digital entrepreneurs, giving you fresh, relatable material for your niche. This approach is fast, memorable, and leverages credible, positive imagery for a new market focus.
See, this is done in mere second – and you don’t have to rack your brain trying to connect the dots. You get to retain use of the video clip, with a good idea to go with it.
You might have a situation where the messaging is great but the PLR vendor missed the mark on the b-roll footage they used. In that case, you can provide AI with instructions to create a new AI video that does match it perfectly – or at least tell you what to look for.
You can ask AI to do the following: “I have a short-form video I bought about hard work versus good habits and the vendor used b-roll footage of the ocean, which doesn’t match. Give me ideas to look up on Pexels.com that would be a better fit. This allows you to begin using PLR with flaws, knowing they will be fixed.
It will give you a list for hard work keywords (like focused office worker, working late, typing on laptop intensely), good habits and productivity keywords (like morning routine, making a healthy breakfast, planner organizer), and success and positive outcome keywords (like crossing a finish line, celebrating an achievement, and more).
If it’s something like great audio and messaging, but low quality graphics, log into Canva and have their AI system create something perfectly matched for you. Or, use a built-in template for a quick swap. You have the message, just change the background.
Sometimes, a vendor will try to cram too much wording into the text on screen. You can ask AI to “Condense these text overlays into punchy captions that are 5 words max.” Or, have it check for spelling errors or typos.
Step 4: Use This Flow for Fixing MP4 or MP3 Files
If you’re given MP3 (audio) or MP4 (video) files, you can streamline your repair process with those so that it’s fast and has good results. Start by extracting the audio or text from the video (you can use something like Descript, VEED or Kapwing).
This will transcribe or separate the narration portion of the piece so you can then edit it. Once you have the script, go through the polishing process with AI. Then look at the video timing, sequence and visuals to see if you need anything better or different.
Let AI replace poor audio and videos if needed and connect it to the relevant script. Ask for new text overlays if you need them. As the video is edited to perfection in your eyes, export it as a vertical or square, depending on where you want to upload it.
Make sure you double check the quality and final output before downloading. Keep in mind this doesn’t all have to be done in one day. If you purchase a pack of 1,000 short-form videos, you’re only going to upload between 1-3 a day typically, so you can edit quickly on the fly as you need them.
Create a process for yourself. It might help to take notes on which PLR vendor typically has issues you feel need repair. It might be that one vendor has good bulk videos, but there’s an ESL issue.
Or another vendor has good information, but it’s bland and lacks personality or engaging context. If you keep your files separated and well-organized, you can quickly refer to your cheat sheet to tell you what likely needs to be fixed from each vendor.
When you buy PLR, flaws don’t have to frustrate you because you feel like you’ve wasted money. With a quick assessment and a set of simple fixes for text, video, and audio, you can turn rough bundles of content into something that matches your needs. Using PLR with flaws can make you a better entrepreneur!
Treat every pack as raw material instead of a finished product. That way you expect to reshape it into something unique for your audience. The more you practice this fast repair system, the less you’ll dread unzipping new files. Allow the concept of using PLR with flaws and fixing it yourself one that makes sense for you and your business.
