Setting up a WordPress blog is a crucial step in the process of becoming an affiliate marketer online. The reason we use the WordPress blogging platform is that this is the industry standard. The thousands of plug-ins that are available make it possible to customize your site in order to attract the exact prospects that will be interested in your topic. When setting up this blog, think about the branding you will use, the features you will take advantage of, and how you will position yourself to reach as many people as possible.

I always tell my students that your blog is your home on the Internet, and this holds true whether you are blogging about your main niche or writing about a variety of affiliate products, services, and programs. The most important thing to remember with this strategy is that, just like your physical home, you want to make your blog personally inviting to everyone who visits. Treat your readers like visitors instead of traffic, and give them a reason to opt in to your list right there in the upper right-hand corner of your home page.

Be aware of the colors and design you use, as well as the font and any pictures. Include a picture of yourself above the fold, which refers to the area that it visible to visitors before they scroll down to read more. Include a sticky post at the top where you can share who you are and what your blog is about. This can also be done on the About page, but I have found that it’s worthwhile to do this on the home page also.

Start out with a product review for the product or service you will be promoting. Write this as a post of about three hundred to five hundred words. Make sure you are completely honest in the review, and include both the good and not so good facts. People are much more likely to buy from you if you have purchased the product yourself and are willing to share your experiences with them. Based on your review, they will be spending money in hopes of having a similar experience.

Add graphics and other images to your posts. This makes your blog more aesthetically pleasing. We all enjoy spending more time on sites that look good. Continue to encourage your visitors to join your listing by opting in right there on your site. Make sure your free giveaway is one that will compel them to become a part of your online community.
