Everything seemed so difficult when I was getting started online, so it gives me great joy to show new people how to make money online. In 2008 I developed my 5 Pronged Approach, and I’ll share it with you now. This simple concept has built my business, and many of my students have benefitted from applying this technique to their own business.
It all begins with your original idea. This can be on any topic, but the 5 Pronged Approach works much better when you are passionate about your niche and want to build a business around it. Make some notes to see what ideas you already have. Then take action, using these 5 prongs:
- articles
- your blog
- social media
- teleseminars
- affiliate marketing
Article marketing built my business during 2006 and 2007, and continues to be the way for me to reach new prospects and create content that can be repurposed into many different formats. I feel that everything we do in our online business begins with a short – 400 words or so – article. To make money online, write articles as often as possible.
I have been teaching that your blog is your ‘Home on the Internet’ for a few years now. It is more than a journal or diary; you are sharing sound principles, experiences, and ideas with your target audience, and encouraging them to join in the conversation. Post regularly, at least twice a week, during the first year in order to lay the foundation for your business.
Social media took off in 2008, and the world will never again be the same. Get involved by signing up for the Big 3 – Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Fill out your profile completely and see who else you know there. Connect and interact with others, because building relationships will build your business over time.
I hosted my first teleseminar in 2007, and have now done more than a thousand hours of audio recordings this way. Your first few are usually tough, but once you push through the fear you will feel right at home with sharing information with people. I recommend this teleseminar service if you are serious about building a profitable business online.
Affiliate marketing is the way to start earning money right away. You will not have your own products when you first come online, and even two or three products will not earn you enough income. Recommending other people’s products and services is the way to see how the sales process is handled from start to finish. My training in this area explains how to do this in a step by step manner.
Apply the 5 Pronged Approach to your business and share your results with us here by leaving a comment.

Connie, I’m using many of the same strategies you’re using, but haven’t gotten into teleseminars yet. One thing that’s working well for me is to focus on building a list which is something I know you do really well also. I guess each of these 5 prongs can lead to optin pages.

Been using your 5 pronged approach for about a year now and it works! Thanks for not keeping it a secret Connie!

Hi Connie, Is the preferred/recommended order to place an original article on the directory first (I prefer EZA), and THEN post it on my blog? I inderstand that 20% of the words should be altered, but I can never get a good answer as to “Which comes first”.
Thanks ~ Anita

Anita,
Post it to your blog first. That way the search engines find it on your site and you get credit for it as an original piece of writing. Wait 24 hours, and then submit it to the article directories. I prefer http://SubmitMoreArticles.com, a paid service, so that my articles will be distributed worldwide and bring me more traffic and business.
