Creating a free giveaway is the way to build your email list. Many years ago, long before I came online in 2006, people would give you their name and email address if you just offered them an Ezine or a newsletter, but now you must offer them something that will help them to achieve their goals. Think about when you find a new site or hear about a topic that is of interest to you. Do you dash over and enter your name and email address, in hopes that the business owner will start sending you helpful emails? No, instead you visit their site and see if there is something in it for you.
We are all extremely busy these days, and the thought of receiving even more email just isn’t that exciting. But when there is information we need to know, and the site if offering us a free report, audio, or video, we will take the time to check it out.
I recommend preparing a short report to give to your prospects as your optin bribe. This is the opportunity for you to show them what you know about your topic, so don’t hold back. Choose your title carefully, as it will be the headline that draws your prospects in. There is no correct number of words or pages. My short reports tend to be anywhere from about eight to fifteen pages in length. Be sure to add a footer at the bottom of each page, letting readers know where to find you after they have finished reading your report.
You will also want to include a call to action at the end of the report. That is to let readers know what you would like for them to do next. This may seem unnecessary, but the truth is that we must let our prospects know exactly what they should do next in order to work more closely with you to achieve their goals. This is true no matter which niche you are working in.
Once your free giveaway is completed, read it out loud to see how it sounds. Also, ask two other people to read it. You want to make sure they are no mistakes and that it is not confusing to someone who knows very little about what you do. Simply using the spellchecker will not be enough, so get others involved in the process and your giveaway will be excellent.

I think it is really fun making these free opt-in reports. It let’s me practice more writing and I can test so many different things.
That’s one of my favorite parts with this whole process. Testing and tweaking to make things just right for my visitors. I really look to make it beneficial for them.
Yes, I choose a headline or copy for the report that has at least one target keyword in it. Really helps out.
