Posting to my blog and writing articles to submit to the article directories has been the mainstay of building my Internet business since coming online in 2006. In fact, I just celebrated a milestone this week when my articles reached six hundred thousand page views. Take a look at Articles by Connie Ragen Green to see where I am right now. That took four years for me to achieve, but that is exactly how you grow your business – one day at a time. Think about what you are doing each day to build your own business, and this will give you a good idea of what you can do to increase your effectiveness.
If anyone would have told me that writing would be such an important part of my success when I was first starting out, I may not have started my business. You see, I had not written in more than twenty years because I was told that my writing was not any good. Instead of being determined to learn to write more effectively and professionally, I simply gave up. Now I know better than to give up on anything in my life, and my experience as a new writer taught me this lesson well.
My recommendation is to write every day. Not on weekdays, or days you are writing articles, but every single day! I can guarantee that if you do this for thirty minutes each day, within a month you will be a writer. You will have become accustomed to incorporating writing into your daily schedule, and this will change your life.
Repurpose everything you write to increase your output exponentially. I always begin with my idea for a blog post, and then I immediately turn that post into an article that can be submitted to the article directories. This is the way I get targeted traffic to my sites and build my list. Doing this every day for the past four years has given me an inventory of more than fifteen hundred articles. This has been instrumental to my success.
Take a close look at where you are right now. If you write occasionally, decide what time of day is best for you. I prefer to write first thing in the morning when I am wide awake and fresh. You know what time is best for you. If you are not writing right now, start by writing for thirty minutes about the topic you want to become an expert in. Reading and writing about your topic will give you the credibility and the expert status that will set you apart from everyone else online.
