So much has been written about how to write an eBook, but not nearly as much on how to market and sell your eBook once you have finished writing it. After you have completed your writing, you need to think about monetizing your efforts online. There are three primary ways to do this in the best possible way. You will either set up your own website where you can sell your eBook, publish it for the Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Noble Nook, or simply give it away for free as a way to build an interested and highly responsive list.
You may have been under the impression that having a traditional publisher would mean that you would not have to market and sell your own writing, but nothing could be further from the truth. You are the one who is ultimately responsible for selling your eBook or paperback book, and you will need to market every day using the techniques and strategies that have been proven to work.
Start by setting up a simple website where you can sell your information to people around the world. This is like having a store that is open 24/7/365. Make sure to include an optin box so that you will build your list while you are going through this process. You will need a free giveaway to encourage visitors to sign up, so you will want to prepare a short report, checklist, or audio recording to use as your free giveaway. You may also give away a free chapter of your book to entice people to opt in with their name and email address.
Publishing to Kindle or Nook is also a great marketing strategy. You can have your eBook for sale on your own site, as I mentioned above, and also include it for sale as a Kindle or Nook version to increase your visibility online. Remember that Amazon is the largest marketplace in the world, which means that they are doing regular advertising that will help you to sell more every day.
Another way to approach this business is to give away your eBook. This entails including a ‘call to action’ to give readers a reason to spend money with you or further engage you after they have read what you have written about your niche topic.
No matter which of these models you choose, know that writing and selling your writing is an excellent way to make money on the Internet that can also lead to more opportunities in the future.
